One of SF’s classic walks (with an old friend while playing hookie from work):
Ferry Building > Filbert Steps > Coit Tower > North Beach > Chinatown
Along the way we even stopped to pick up an out of print book at Re/Search Publications headquarters up near City Lights!
Great day. Made me realize I don’t get out to that part of town nearly enough.
Most photos by Hafeez Raji.
Standing right here you can see an Italian Bakery with an Italian flag awning. Do not mess around and get the coconut macaroon with chocolate. It’s $5, but $10 worth of delicious.
Vale of Re/Search Labs in his home studio. We signed the giant guestbook. Awesome!
From Wikipedia:
RE/Search Publications is an American magazine and book publisher, based in San Francisco, founded and edited by Andrea Juno and V. Vale in 1980. It was the successor to Vale’s earlier punk rock fanzine Search & Destroy (1977–1979), and was started with $100 from Allen Ginsberg and Lawrence Ferlinghetti.[1] RE/Search itself began as a tabloid-sized magazine.
… RE/Search has published books on various underground topics. Titles include Pranks, Incredibly Strange Films, and Modern Primitives, and the subject matter includes profiles of William S. Burroughs, J. G. Ballard, and others.
Some choice volumes, etc.
These boxes of zines and magazines probably contain the solid gold best zines on the planet.
Cool views in Chinatown.
